Little Explorers & Forest Trekkers
Free-flow and why…
Our playrooms are designed to be a free-flow environment with our resources being stored at child-level so they are accessible to the children at all times. We have found that adopting a free-flow environment has revolutionised the way our children play. When children are given the independence to make real choices about their play, the play becomes more meaningful and in turn, the children display a deeper level of engagement in their thoughts and ideas.

Loose parts and why …
“Its not about what it is, its about what it can become”-Dr Seuss
When you visit out nursery, you will notice that our playrooms are not filled with traditional toys. Instead, we have filled our playrooms with loose parts. “What are loose parts?” you may ask. Loose parts are open ended materials that can be manipulated and combined to create anything the child imagines. Loose parts encourage children to use and develop their imaginations, creating small world environments from treasures around the room rather than simply being given the finished product.

Qualified Practitioners
We recognise that continuity of care is important for your child which is why they will be given a special person called a Keyworker. A keyworker plays an integral role in a child’s life as they help to settle your child into their new environment whilst forming bonds filled with nurture, love and care. Your keyworker will observe your child, their interests, and their stage of development and then plan exciting teacher -initiated activities based on these observations which you can view on our famly app. All observations and activities are planned in line with the EYFS curriculum that your child will continue to follow until the end of their Reception year at Primary School.

Out and about
At Little Cherubs we focus equally on indoor and outdoor learning. Children benefit greatly from a rich and stimulating learning environment as it provides an abundance of opportunities for them to use their imagination, to be inventive and resourceful.
Our Little Explorers begin to spend time in our Woodland Garden and are introduced to Forest School ethos sessions.
